The world of reborns is a huge industry, so it’s important to education yourself on the best practices when it comes to collecting, creating and selling reborns.
BUYING REBORN DOLLS
- Only buy from trusted artists to ensure quality and authenticity.
- Only purchase reborns that are authentic sculpts. Don’t purchase counterfeit knock-offs of any kind.
- Do not purchase reborns from Amazon, Temu or Shien. You will not receive what’s pictured.
- Be cautious when buying from eBay and Facebook Marketplace, unless it’s from a trusted artist.
- Check the details of the listing and all photos before purchase.
- Request a safety photo, if you are unsure. A safety photo is where the seller places a handwritten note, next to the doll with the dolls’s details and snaps photo.
- When receiving a reborn, ensure you open the box carefully and report any issues back to the seller, if any.

- Only buy from trusted suppliers, brands, and artists to ensure quality and authenticity.
- ALWAYS opt for authentic kits to support sculptors and dealers in the reborn community.
- Do not purchase kits from Amazon, Temu or Shien. These are counterfeit copies.
- Be cautious when buying kits from eBay and Facebook Marketplace, unless they are from a trusted suppliers or artists.
- Invest in the best quality supplies you can afford that are specifically suitable for reborning.
- Invest in good storage solutions to keep your supplies organised and in optimal condition for use.
SELLING REBORNS:
- Price your reborns based on the cost of the kit and your experience/ability. Compare your work and what you’re offering, against other artists prices and always price fairly.
- Provide detailed descriptions of your reborns in your listings, including information about the sculpt, materials used, size, and any special features or characteristics.
- You MUST be transparent about the doll’s condition and any imperfections. This may include, cracks, marks, repairs and paint damage of any kind.
- Take photos of the reborn in a well-lit area. Ensure the photos are in focus and show all necessary features and details of the doll.
- You should NEVER alter or edit your photos to improve the appearance of your doll. This includes, altering the colour of the paint work or editing out damage or marks on the doll. Your photos should always represent the actual doll’s appearance.
- Know the law! When selling any item, you as the seller, are bound by consumer law and it’s your responsibility to abide by it. For example, you cannot mislead customers with your listing information or photos.
- When posting reborns, make sure you securely and appropriately package them up and ensure it’s is sent via a trackable method of post.
